A lawyer in a previous incarnation, Ayesha escaped city life and found writing. Her work has won or been placed in a number of competitions supported by, amongst others, Faber, Bloomsbury, Jericho Writers and Spread The Word. Ayesha’s short story was published last year in The Faber Book of Bedtime Stories, as well as her most recent work, a chapter book published by Collins Big Cat.
Her experience chairing the award-winning Akram Khan Company, resident at Sadlers Wells afforded her a bird’s-eye view of creativity at the highest level, which profoundly influenced her own storytelling.
Fairy God Mothers Don’t Exist
I am delighted to have my debut story included in this beautiful book, The Faber Book of Bedtime Stories. My story, ‘Fairy Godmothers Don’t Exist’ is a rollicking tale with wands, wishes and footballs.
It means a lot to be published and have my imagination brought to life through Sarah McIntyre’s amazing illustrations. From the endearingly hapless Fairy Godmother to the inscrutable Scary Godmother the illustrations are so much fun. It is also amazing to be included in a book alongside so many wonderful authors.
